Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Kitchen Assistant Job Purpose
We are looking for a friendly and helpful kitchen assistant to join our award-winning team! Working
in both kitchen and front of house, your main goal in this position should be to ensure the highest
level of clients' satisfaction and provide an outstanding customer experience.
We are looking for someone who can work well within a team and has a positive approach to
helping customers and colleagues.
You need to be committed and make every effort to do a good job. We are looking for someone who
is reliable, who turns up for work on time, is smart and tidy and is ready to learn. Experience desired
in cafe and barrister work, but not essential as full training will be given.
Kitchen Assistant Job Duties
Always report on time, ensuring personal hygiene is maintained and in clean appropriate
clothing
Perform assigned duties in a timely, efficient, safe manner
Help with food preparation, cooking and cleanup in accordance with procedures for the café
Pot wash and plate wash duties
Hygiene and cleaning duties
Adhere to all hygiene and safety regulations
Ensure that all safety rules are always followed
Ensure that all work areas are clean and free of debris
Ensure that all equipment is properly used
Report any maintenance issues or shortages
Performs other duties as assigned
Meet with manager, kitchen and wait staff daily or regularly to learn about menu changes
and specials
Kitchen Assistant Skills and Qualifications
No formal education required, physical strength and stamina, attention to detail, ability to multitask,
time management, written and verbal communication, customer service skills, numeracy skills, ‘can
do’ attitude, interpersonal communication, teamwork, ability to work under pressure and to follow
instructions, positive attitude
Food preparation
Understanding of catering and food safety
Good team working skills
Good communication skills
Ability to multitask
Excellent customer service skills
Enthusiasm to execute outstanding customer service
Friendly manner
Communicate confidently with customers
Flexible approach (ability to be multi skilled)
