Welcome to the mental health information page for Coleg Cambria.

At Coleg Cambria we aim to actively support individuals and signpost practical advice and support.

Mental Health First Aiders

Mental Health First Aiders are a point of contact if you, or someone you are concerned about, are experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. They are not therapists or psychiatrists but they can give you initial support and signpost you to appropriate help if required.

There are plenty of different types of support out there, and a Mental Health First Aider can help you access them.

At our Northop Campus, our colleague, Jaqui John runs a mindfulness club on a weekly basis on Thursdays at 4pm.  If you would like to participate, please contact Jacqui via her email address

Books on Prescription

Within our Libray we hold a number of “books on Prescription”.

The books are chosen by health experts and people living with the conditions covered.

Many titles cover mental health and provide helpful information and support for managing common mental health conditions, or dealing with difficult feelings and experiences.

Some books also include personal stories from people who are living with or caring for someone with mental health needs.

These books can be borrowed by both staff and students.

Occupational Health and Counselling Support for Colleagues

Where colleagues feel that they would benefit with Counselling support, the College utilises the services of professional counsellors, often with a shorter lead time than current NHS timeframes, therefore helping with early intervention.

Appointments can be arranged by the HR Advisor for your area.

Occupational Health Services are available to support employees.

Occupational Health teams keep people well at work – physically and mentally.

If you have any concerns about your health and feel that you may benefit from an Occupational Health referral please speak to your HR Advisor.
