We give you permission to take a break…

… no, honestly! You need it.

You’ve heard the phrase ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’…? Well, too much time spent stuck staring at a screen or trying to single-minded focus on finding the answer to that problem, just because it’s been bugging you all day, week (or even longer!) can have a negative effect on your health, both mentally as well as physically, and eventually lead to burnout. And none of us wants to end up as an emotional mess – especially those of you who are still teenagers: your hormones are raging and all over the place at the best of times.

Student Voice approached our lovely colleagues at the college for some tips and advise on how you can make the best of the downtime you get [replace this yourself with half-term, holidays when they open up again, that moment you allowed yourself to be dragged away from the screen to do something else — or even to do nothing for a while] and we have collated them into one easy to access resource area for you.

Active Cambria

Active Cambria organises and runs lots of different sessions you can take part in – such as Pilates, Zumba, HIIT and Couch to 5K – if you want to take part in any of these sessions email donna.welsh@web.cambria.ac.uk for an invite.

Chaplaincy

Our Chaplain, Shaun Graham, works with students across the college in lots of different ways – ranging from mentoring in faith, belief and spirituality to resilience matters. Recently Shaun has been working with different groups regarding well-being and getting good sleep.

The following are a selection of useful documents and links to external documents which may just help you if you are currently not in the ‘right’ mindset to be able to enjoy your break, or feel like you can relax, recharge and reset.

This might be for any number of reasons, and because of this the lists contained in the useful numbers and links are quite extensive.
